In 1978 Fred Wiley opened BMW Cycle Center and in 1979 moved it to it's present location on Orchard Street near I-84. In 1982 it became an independent cycle shop servicing both BMW and Harley Davidson motorcycles, that's how the name "Big Twin" came about. In 1990, Big Twin regained it's BMW dealership.
During his Bonneville Salt Flats racing days Fred met Henry Louie, a retired Naval Admiral, ex fighter pilot, fellow salt flats racer and part owner of a large multi line motorcycle dealership in California. In 1994 Henry Louie left his home and motorcycle shop in California and moved to Boise to become a partner in Big Twin Cycle Center.
